There was no shortage of holiday cheer when Calgary's chapter of the Canadian Marketing Association gathered under the mistletoe for a good cause. The sold-out fundraising Christmas party played host to local CMA members while they snacked on sumptuous appetizers, tried their luck at a silent auction and won some great door prizes. Most importantly, guests had a chance to mix and mingle with their peers before joining family to celebrate the holidays.

Thanks to the silent auction, more than $6,000 was generated during the annual fundraising event at Catcch restaurant at the Hyatt Regency.

The money went towards the chapter's 2006 goal of raising $10,000 for an income-generating project for an impoverished community in remote Zambia.

The money will also help sponsor a number of African youth attend secondary school through the Canadian non-profit organization, Helping Youth Through Educational Scholarships (
