Tonight we had our Board Meeting via Zoom, and it was wonderful to see everyones faces during this pandemic! It has been a few months now since we have been able to get together in person. We are in the process of waiting to see what this coming school year will look like for our HYTES-sponsored students, and taking things as they come. The current status of the schools are as follows:
Tanzania – Schools are allowed to reopen on July 1st. We will supply updates as we get them from the schools.
Zambia – Grades 7, 9 and 12 started back June 1st. These are the grades with National Exams. Other grades are expected to return to school in September.
Kenya – Gradual reopening of schools is expected to start Sept 6th.
Guatemala – Rabinal School has closed due to COVID-19. No update yet on when they are expecting to open up.
We will share future updates as they come. We have pushed back our information night until early 2021 and hope to share more about HYTES with all of you! We will continue to sponsor our already-accepted students, and we understand finances are tight for many at this time, but any donations are always needed and so appreciated! Each country faces its own challenges through this pandemic, and education is at an upmost importance in the near future. Thank you all for your continuous support of HYTES!
