Hello supporters of education! Since the new year we have had lots of changes for 2023! First, we are sad to say, after several years of dedication, our President Lisa and Director Sandra have resigned from HYTES effective December 2022. Helping Youth Through Educational Scholarships
HYTES is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that is run 100% by volunteers and has no affiliation with any government or religion. We raise funds in Canada to provide scholarships in developing nations.
End of the year!
Helping Youth Through Educational Scholarships (HYTES) is a small non-profit organization based out of Calgary, Alberta. It has been operating since 2006, founded by Harold and Janet Pliszka who travelled to Africa in 2005 and saw first-hand the need and importance of education in third world countries.
Today, HYTES sponsors students in East and West Tanzania, Kenya, Guatemala, and Zambia by providing educational scholarships that fund their secondary education. HYTES is 100% volunteer-run, meaning that 100% of donations go directly towards paying for students’ school fees (90%) and program costs (10%).
With the end of the year approaching, please consider our small organization if making end-of-year or holiday donations! We could not continue without our donors and every donation makes such an impact on the number of students we can accept each year and continue to support through their remaining years of secondary education. Thank you so much, especially to our regular donors who have kept HYTES afloat all these years. We cannot thank you enough.
Though we would like to help as many students as possible, HYTES currently is only accepting new applications from the current schools that we have HYTES-sponsored students. We would like to expand in the future as funds allow, however, we do not have the means to accommodate new schools at this time. Thank you for your continued support in seeing students through their secondary education.
