Success Stories

Winfred

I am the last born in a polygamous family of three wives. My mother is the last wife and I am her

11th child. It was a great joy to our family when I scored 383 marks in my KCPE in the year 2006.  However, the joy didn’t last for long because when I received my secondary school letter my parents could not afford to pay the school fees.

My aunt heard about the HYTES scholarship and encouraged me to apply and I was lucky to get the scholarship while in my second term in form 1. This relieved my mother of the tiresome work and gave her time to take care of the rest of the family. My studies up to form four were smooth and I managed to excel with a mean grade of A of 81 points. This earned to chance in a government university and a scholarship by equity group foundation. I pursued a bachelor’s of science degree in civil engineering and I graduated in the year 2016.

Currently, I am a practicing civil engineer and am forever grateful to HYTES scholarship because it has brought me to where I am today. I encourage on-going scholars to do their best in school and not worry about the future as God has a good plan for them. My passion in life is mentoring young people to be best they can be since the potential lies within them.
